Frequently asked questions

What is solar thermal?

Solar thermal is the specialist term for heat produced using solar energy. Thermal collectors convert sunlight into heat which is used for hot water.

How will it benefit me?

There are excellent payback periods for high usage such as by large families, and homes with swimming pools and hot tubs.

Will it still work on cloudy days?

It does not have to be hot as panel temperatures remain very similar in the winter. It is the clarity of the sun that counts, for example, zero degrees air temperature can still generate 60 degrees in the panel, and this is quite common.

What is meant by "photovoltaic"?

Photovoltaic (photo = light, volt = unit of electrical voltage) is the specialist term for electricity produced using solar energy. It relates to the direct conversion of sunlight into electric current using solar cells.

Are there any real tangible benefits of solar energy?

  • It is not dependent on fossil or nuclear fuels
  • There are no harmful CO2 emissions
  • The supply is assured for the next 4 billion years
  • It supplies much more energy than is needed to manufacture the solar heating/electricity systems

Is it only hot water heating bills that can be reduced?

No, electricity can also be produced to be stored in a battery to run appliances and/or you can use an inverter so that you can use the electricity anywhere in your home.

Could it be expensive?

There are grants available to help with the cost and over a period of years, depending on how much energy you use, you could eventually receive a return on your investment.

Is the work messy?

Dane fully manages the work from start to finish so there are no headaches for you.The company is a registered ISO 9001 quality company and ISO 14001 environmental company, so customers can rest assured that a quality service will be delivered.
