Tenancy Support Officer
A Day in the life of Sue Bailey - Tenancy Support Officer
Every day is a different day with new challenges in my role at Dane Housing. As a Tenancy Support Officer I assess referrals for help, both financial and non-financial, here at The Dane Housing Group. One day, I could be informed that a resident has accrued debts and so it is my duty to carry out some fact finding regarding these debts, in order to help the resident. Another day, I could be required to help residents who have moved into their first property, have no furniture and are new to the area. In this instance I would contact external companies in order to gain furnishings for the resident.
I also liaise with external agencies around many health issues such as drug and alcohol counsellors, health visitors, and social and mental health workers.
Another part of my role is to co-ordinate communication links with residents to monitor their needs from tenancy support such as financial assessments and new furnishings. When this help is requested, I make an appointment with the resident to assess their needs and try to help them as much as possible. Where tenancy support is not appropriate for an individual, I always do my upmost to point people in the right direction.
